Well, since everyone tends to ask about the story of today. I'll write what happened here. Well... Matthew and I decided to get a cake for Tanner since it was his birthday. We bought candles that said he was 50 :]. So anyways, on our way home. There was a man laying down at the bus stop of Landess & Morill. He appeared to be panting. And the man next to him did nothing to help him. The man stopped us. He asked us if we had a cell to phone 911. At first, Matthew and I were skeptical like, 'is this fool freal?' Wouldn't you be? Me and Matt just looked at each other and the guy looked like he wasn't kidding. So Matthew said yes, we can help you. I got out the phone and dialed 911. I let the guy press the green button just to be sure that he wasn't kidding and that he was sure he needed help. So he called, and they put him on hold... Then Matt got the phone and they responded he told them where we were and gave the phone to the man. Who answered a couple questions then they began sending the ambulance. Then while the ambulance came. The man told us about how he just got out of the hospital the day before and that he just got out of prison a couple months beforehand. That kinda freaked me out. So, while Matt conforted the guy. I saw the ambulance looking around at the corner so I jumped up and down waving my hands. And they found us. At first this one girl paramedic came out. She was chewing gum and was wearing some bug eye, like versace, shades. She was like, 'now whats wrong today sirrrr.' I didn't really like her, she didn't seem into her job that much. Well, the man answered some more questions. Then out of no where 10 seconds later there were 10 paramedics. It was kind of weird. Then suddenly, Matt bends over and tells the man 'everything will be all right.' At that moment, if you took a picture of it, it would be pretty amazing. With all the paramedics running around and Matt just bending over saying a line that came out of a movie. Oh yeah, the man had a bike with him that they could not bring into the ambulance. So, Matt decided to take it for the time being and give the man his number so his brother could pick up the bike. Because the man said that if he did not return the bike to his brother that he would kill him.
And thats the storryyy...
Until later that day..
The man's brother called and Matthew bravely decided to take the bike to him by himself. Knowing that he could easily be robbed being a 130 pound small asain man. The man brought Matthew a couple problems...
iKidd. Matthew said that the brother was quite nice. The brother told Matthew that the man at the bus stop is an alchoholic and also went to rehab. Which is fairly unfortunate. But yeah, the brother got his bike back and all is well. The man's life was possibly saved because of a little phone call that we decided to lend him.
It striked me as intriguing. How such a small thing could have possibly saved a life. I mean, all we did was lend him a phone and it got him help. It makes me think about all the other possibilities of how lives could be spared by the little things I could have done. Or the little things others could have done. Like, what if president Bush was able to speak to the leaders in Iraq and we could have prevented the war. And spared innumerous lives. There are a million and more possibilities of saving lives. All the 'what ifs' of the world are crazy. But, Its all under the watchful eye of God. For the next while, try and keep your eyes OPEN for all the possibilities you have to help another individual. Yeah, thanks.
